Cherry Pepper Jelly Recipe

a cherry pepper jam perfect for family dinners, recipe by Goya recipes

If you want to complement toast or add a special touch to your meals with a bit of spice, let me introduce you to cherry pepper jelly. This delight is not only tasty but also has an interesting history and origins that make it even more special.

Cool facts...

  • This cherry pepper jelly is a recipe that combines sweet and spicy in a spectacular way. It is said that these types of jellies have their roots in the culinary traditions of the southern United States, where people used to experiment with different types of preserves to make the most of fruit and vegetable harvests. Cherry peppers, with their spicy and slightly sweet flavor, were perfect for creating a unique jelly.
  • This is an excellent addition to cheese boards and appetizers at gatherings and parties. It is always a hit with your guests. Once, I tried a grilled cheese sandwich with cherry pepper jelly, and it was an explosion of flavors that I will never forget.

Moreover, making jelly at home is a super easy activity. Not only do you know exactly what ingredients you are using, but you can also adjust the level of spiciness to your liking. If you like it spicier, add more peppers; if you prefer it milder, reduce the amount or remove the seeds.

So if you decide to make it, here's the recipe so you can try it!

Ingredients for the Cherry Pepper Jelly
  • 1 cup cherry peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 cup red bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (3 oz) liquid pectin
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Peppers

Start by finely chopping the cherry peppers and red bell peppers. Be sure to wear gloves to avoid any irritation from the peppers.

  2. Cook the Peppers

In a large pot, combine the chopped peppers and apple cider vinegar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

  3. Add the Sugar

Gradually add the granulated sugar to the pot, stirring constantly until it is fully dissolved. Continue to boil the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Add the Pectin

Stir in the liquid pectin and return the mixture to a rolling boil. Boil for an additional 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat.

  5. Jar the Jelly

Carefully ladle the hot jelly into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe the rims clean and seal with lids and bands.

  6. Process the Jars

Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. Remove the jars and let them cool completely at room temperature. Check the seals before storing.
